The Iraqi Museum in Baghdad, one of the most important cultural institutions in the Middle East, has announced a temporary closure for essential maintenance and preservation work. The museum officially closed its doors in July 2025 and is expected to remain closed for a period of 190 days.

During this time, specialists will focus on improving facilities and ensuring the long-term protection of Iraq’s priceless collections, which include artifacts from the Sumerian, Akkadian, Babylonian, and Assyrian civilizations.

As of now, the museum has not announced an exact reopening date. Updates are expected closer to the end of the maintenance period.

On regular days (outside the closure period), visitors can explore the museum during the following hours:

Sunday to Thursday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Saturday: Closed

Non-Iraqi visitors: 25,000 IQD

Tickets must be paid by card at the entrance.
